Just when you think….

After searching for two and a half days for a fawn and just when I thought I would being leaving Shenandoah National Park without seeing one, this little creature above was discovered in a thick blanket of ferns.  Finally, I was able to reach my goal of this trip, to photograph a new born white-tailed deer fawn.  Moving slowly, I was able to get very close, raising the curiosity of the fawn but not causing it to run away.  This shot was taken with a wide-angle lens.

Earlier in the morning, just after sunrise, I used a telephoto lens to look down into the valley which was filled with fog.

It was a great weekend to be in Shenandoah NP and I’m looking forward to my next trip there. A special thanks to Ian Plant and Joe Rossbach who helped me capture these images.
